Fifteen Years Ago this weekend
I had a conversation with some former students this afternoon about Glastonbury ‘95.
Can’t believe it’s fifteen years ago -because it was a truly awesome weekend, I’d just finished my A-Levels, and after years of being couped up in school I was free.
…and you know why people keep talking about Pulp at Glastonbury in 1995, and Radiohead in 1997?
Because it really was that special. I was there -and it made all the angst of my teenage years almost worth it.
I went home from the fest and passed my driving test, first time ‘n’ all…no mean feat for a dyspraxic.

Hi,
The full Pulp set from Glasto ‘95 is up on my page if you’re interested. Still cited as the BEST ever set, especially considering they were drafted in at the last minute to replace the Stone Roses.

1995 was my one and only visit to Glastonbury and it really was that special. Pulp,The Cure,Elastica,Gene and of course Jeff Buckley to name but a few. What a weekend and if memory serves me well glorious sunshine for the whole weekend. Having been a regular gig goer for over 20 years this weekend in ‘95 still holds so many special memories.
Cheers ANCB will definitely go and take a listen. From what I heard live of the Stone Roses around this point (and if anyone remembers the travesty of Reading ‘96) think it was a good thing it was Pulp.
Scott - it was pretty awesome weather. And I’ve gained more than a small bit of kudos over the years for being able to say I saw Jeff Buckley! He also joined Everything But The Girl for a cover of ‘I Know It’s Over’ from the Smiths’ The Queen Is Dead LP -I’d be eternally grateful if anyone came up with an mp3 of that…
