Yup, it is only November, but already I’m starting to get sent stuff for 2012, along with having to think about what my end of year Festive 50 and Top albums will be.
One release I’m already looking forward to is the release of the latest solo album from Barry Adamson. Mr. Adamson has an impressive CV. He first came to fame as the bass player with Magazine, the band formed by Howard Devoto after he split from the Buzzcocks. After Magazine he collaborated with the Birthday Party on the appropriately entitled Bad Seed EP, before becoming bass player in Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, playing on the first four albums From Her To Eternity(sic), The Firstborn Is Dead , Kicking Against The Pricks and Your Funeral, My Trial. He has also released a number of solo albums, which have seen him moving from the post-punk/alternative rock scene to being more filmic and soundtrack orientated, and with a film noir and jazz influence. His latest is as yet untitled, and will be released on January 30, 2012.
The tracklisting for the album is:
Get Your Mind Right
Black Holes In My Brain
Turnaround
The Power Of Suggestion
Destination
The Trigger City Blues
Looking To Love Somebody
I Will Set You Free
If You Love Her
Stand In
‘Turnaround’ is available as a free download and there is a promotional video which you can watch below.
