Woodpecker Wooliams is the work of one Gemma Williams. She’s the right side of kooky -I would argue that names that she compares to are the likes of Amanda Palmer, Bjork and Joanna Newsom (yes, this IS meant as a compliment).
Her forthcoming album, The Bird School Of Being Human, released on September is a fine album. It clocks in at a mere 29 minutes, but in that time manages to cover a whole lot of ground, in her own fantastic style.
The first single to be taken from the album is ‘Sparrow.’ This is released tomorrow; it’s rather fine and I’m pleased to report that I have heard this playing on the radio.
