The return of Laetitia Sadier

Laetitia Sadier, sometime chanteuse with the gorgeous sounding Stereolab (is it really twenty years since their first album?) will be returning in July with her second solo album Silencio. This is out on Drag City on July 23.

This is the first track to do the rounds, entitled ‘Find Me The Pulse Of The Universe’. According to the press release it’s ‘a song about recognizing the world of possibilities (as one can with mathematics,) and thinking in an open-ended, creative way to solve some of the confusion surrounding us. “Find Me The Pulse of the Universe” shows the singularity of Laetitia – her calm and direct voice, the one that reaches you and wraps you up each time you hear it, sharing her confident and honest ideas.’

The tracklisting is as follows:

The Rule of the Game
Find Me the Pulse of the Universe
Silent Spot
Auscultation to the Nation
There is a Price to Pay for Freedom (and it isn’t Security)
Moi Sans Zach
Between Earth and Heaven
Lightning Thunderbolt
Fragment pour le Future de L’homme
Merci de M’avoir Donné la Vie
Next Time You See Me
Invitation au Silence

Missing Stereolab?

Stereolab are currently on hiatus -am hoping that this is not a metaphor for split (in fact, while I’m on it, hoping that it’s just a ‘hiatus’ for Electrelane, too).

Anyway, Laetita Sadier has recently issued a solo set, entitled The Trip.

Pitchfork, for what it’s worth, loved it and I’m planning to get my grubby little mits on it, after hearing this track, courtesy of them. The album came out last month…

Meanwhile, a new Stereolab album, Not Music, which was recorded at the same time as their last album, Chemical Chords. This will be out on November 15, which is a pretty cool birthday present for yours truly…
