Forthcoming 17 Seconds Records-related gigs

Chris Bradley -‘To My Ears.’

There will be various 17 Seconds Records-related gigs taking plac over the next few months, so why not shout about it?!

First up, The Leith Festival will have performances from the following:

X Lion Tamer: On Sunday June 7 (yes, tomorrow) Tony T plays at The Village, on stage at 21:00.

Chris Bradley: Monday 8th June, The Dockers Club, 17-17a Academy St, Leith. Chris is on at 10pm with support from Kat Healy at 9pm. Chris isn’t signed to 17 Seconds Records as a solo artist, but he is part of Aberfeldy, and his solo album Voices last year got a glowing review from this blog. To whit: ‘To describe him as a talented singer, songwriter and guitarist is rather like saying that Tiger Woods is quite good at golf, or that the Williams’ sisters are rather good on the tennis court: an understatement that doesn’t begin to get to grips with the facts. Quite simply, on the evidence of these songs he is one of the best.’

Aberfeldy (with support from the Gillyflowers) 11 Jun 2009 20:00 will be playing at the Leith Festival again also at Leith Docker’s Social Club,Edinburgh.

Chris Bradley will also be playing:
27 Jun 2009 at 20:00 at The Outsider Festival, Rothiemurchus
19 Jul 2009 at 20:00 at Electric Circus, Edinburgh

Aberfeldy will be playing:
16 Jul 2009 at 20:00 Dundee Rep Theatre (Riley, solo spot) Dundee, supporting the Hazey Janes
15 Aug 2009 at 20:00 Rowchester Music Festival, Near Berwick-upon-Tweed, Scotland

This has been a busy week for the label, including our third release. If you click here you can see our entire catalogue laid out on eMusic. Which is quite exciting, and you can also buy the releases at iTunes. If you do buy the releases, please leave feedback, we are human too!

The return of Stellastarr*

After a couple of years away, Stellastarr* have returned with a new album Civilized, from which rather excellent new single ‘Graffiti Eyes’ comes, which sees LCD Soundsystem meeting the B52s. Well, that’s what it sounds like to these old ears, anyway.

The single is out to download soon* and can be streamed at their myspace or you can watch the clip above.

They have also made this mp3 from the album available for free – give it a listen and let me know what you think!

* I had understood it was available already, but it isn’t. Silly me. Apologies.

Hallelujah!

Yup, there is a new Yo La Tengo album on the way. And no, it’s not the Condo F*cks but as Yo La Tengo. The album is entitled Popular Songs and should be out in early September. Read about it here

The first release from the album is a rather fine song called ‘Periodically Double or Triple’ which changes rather impressively midway through it.

Escape Act – God Says on MUZU.

Here we are – the third release on 17 Seconds Records – The God Says EP by Escape Act.

The first release with proper video, hopefully the first of many.

…and as a treat, we’d like to offer you a free remix of the track by Uber Glitterati:

The download should be available from iTunes, eMusic and all good online music stores. If there’s an online store (no, we don’t mean filesharing!) that you like to use, please let us know and we’ll try and sort it out.
