OK…just so as you know:

Firstly, after much waiting, the physical version of X-Lion Tamer’s The Neon Hearts EP is now with us. It should be available from Rough Trade in London, and Avalanche and Fopp in Edinburgh literally any day now. Go in and reserve your copy. If you have problems getting hold of it, get in touch!

Secondly, Chris Bradley will be supporting Dr. Robert at the Water Rats pub in London on October 8. He will be on stage at 7pm so get there early.

And also…there will be a 17 Seconds Records night at the 13th Note cafe in Glasgow on Friday October 30. This will feature live performances from The Dirty Cuts, X-Lion Tamer and Chris Bradley. It will be £4, so make sure you get there early!

More exciting music from 17 Seconds Records!

the_dirty_cuts

Yup, folks it’s all busy around 17 Seconds Towers.

Having just released our fourth single, X-Lion Tamer’s ‘I Said Stop’ (coupled with his excellent cover of Galaxie 500’s ‘Tugboat’), and with October seeing the release of Chris Bradley’s ‘Bored Little Rosie’/’The Man I Love’ single, just to say that November will see the release of the sixth single, ‘2 Page Spread’ by The Dirty Cuts. It’s absolutely brilliant, and we’re really excited about it. The single is streaming over at our myspace

Remember: you can play your part too: blog about it, tell your friends, hassle people to play it -whether it’s podcasts, national radio or at clubs…THE MORE COVERAGE THE BETTER! Oh, and obviously go and buy it when it comes out.

Forgotten what the other 17 Seconds Records singles are?

Well, they’re still available for download from iTunes, eMusic etc…

Aberfeldy -‘Claire’ (17SEC1)

X-Lion Tamer -‘Neon Hearts’ (17SEC3)

Escape Act -‘God Says EP’ (17SEC4)

Remember, this is a cottage industry, so by supporting us you are fighting against the man…or something.

UPDATE:

Two rather nice examples of people spreading the word

a) On the sixth day blog have done a post on The Dirty Cuts

b) Matthew of Song, By Toad blog has included X-Lion Tamer’s cover of ‘Tugboat’ on his latest Podcast

the-dirty-cuts

Oh boy am I excited!

Our fourth signing – joining Aberfeldy, X Lion Tamer and Escape Act on the label – is The Dirty Cuts.

Mrs. 17 Seconds and I drove over to Glasgow last night to meet with the band at Glasgow’s rather nice Tinderbox cafe.

We’re hoping to be able to hve a single out in the next few months.

In the meantime, check them out on their myspace and go and make friends with them!

Oh, and for those of you living in Edinburgh, you can now buy 17SEC5 from Avalanche Records, the 17 Seconds t-shirt.

Presenting…The Dirty Cuts

the-dirty-cuts

I saw the Dirty Cuts last Sunday night in Glasgow at the Captain’s Rest in Glasgow.

To say their set made a deep, lasting impression on me would be something of an understatement.

Puzzlingly, they are currently unsigned – but on the strength of the tracks on their myspace page and their live performances, this should not be the case for long. They look cool, they sound cool – oh and they play like gods as well.

Their influences include (according to their myspace):Jim Jones, Heidi Klum, Dirk Wears White Sox, Sex at Bus Stops, Ritilin, The Pleasure Principle, Velour Tracksuits, Black Monk Time, Diminutive Front Women, S & M, Adolescent Sex, Mesopotamia, Felatio, Jackie Onassis, Flush The Fashion, Androgeny, Soldier, Julio Iglesias, Breakfast In America, Giacomo Casanova, Propaganda, Dov Charney, Gold Und Liebe, Big Bam Boom, Jesus, Trans-Europe Express, McCartney II, Liberace, Controversy, Hot Space, Bad Taste

…do you think someone’s taking the mickey, ever so slightly?

Anyway, Billy the singer, Karen the drummer, guitarist Kevin and very friendly bassist Matt make a glorious riot of noise, as will be proved when you listen to their myspace. ‘Two Page Spread’ ‘ sounds great, as in ‘future single’ as does a track called ‘Yummy Mummy’ which they sent me later on in the week.

Then come back and tell me what you think. They’ve been working with Chris ‘Beans’ Geddes from belle and Sebastian too – how cool is that?
