Firstly, after much waiting, the physical version of X-Lion Tamer’s The Neon Hearts EP is now with us. It should be available from Rough Trade in London, and Avalanche and Fopp in Edinburgh literally any day now. Go in and reserve your copy. If you have problems getting hold of it, get in touch!
Secondly, Chris Bradley will be supporting Dr. Robert at the Water Rats pub in London on October 8. He will be on stage at 7pm so get there early.
And also…there will be a 17 Seconds Records night at the 13th Note cafe in Glasgow on Friday October 30. This will feature live performances from The Dirty Cuts, X-Lion Tamer and Chris Bradley. It will be £4, so make sure you get there early!
Yup, folks it’s all busy around 17 Seconds Towers.
Having just released our fourth single, X-Lion Tamer’s ‘I Said Stop’ (coupled with his excellent cover of Galaxie 500’s ‘Tugboat’), and with October seeing the release of Chris Bradley’s ‘Bored Little Rosie’/’The Man I Love’ single, just to say that November will see the release of the sixth single, ‘2 Page Spread’ by The Dirty Cuts. It’s absolutely brilliant, and we’re really excited about it. The single is streaming over at our myspace
Remember: you can play your part too: blog about it, tell your friends, hassle people to play it -whether it’s podcasts, national radio or at clubs…THE MORE COVERAGE THE BETTER! Oh, and obviously go and buy it when it comes out.

Two rather nice examples of people spreading the word
So…another year passes by, and the 17 Seconds blog is three years old!
In the course of the last year, I’ve interviewed several artists included Jennifer Herrema, Peter Parker and The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, and set up 17 Seconds Records. The label has so far signed Aberfeldy, X Lion Tamer, Escape Act and most recently, The Dirty Cuts.
Sure, there have been a couple of bands that we’ve tried to get and haven’t, a few run-ins with the dreaded DMCA, and occasions when I thought I was banging my head against a brick wall. But thn again, this year has also seen the 17 Seconds Night at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh, a nice little article about the blog and label in the List magazine, and support from so many friends both on the net and here in the real world. Particular mention must go to the wonderfully loyal and supportive Mrs. 17 Seconds, ‘Diamond’ Dave who helped me re-work the website and transfer it to its’ new home, my parents, my business partner laurent and Scott who does a lot of work for the label, Matthew at Song, By Toad, Jim at the Vinyl Villain and Steve at Teenage Kicks. There will be various 17 Seconds Records-related gigs taking plac over the next few months, so why not shout about it?!
First up, The Leith Festival will have performances from the following:
X Lion Tamer: On Sunday June 7 (yes, tomorrow) Tony T plays at The Village, on stage at 21:00.
Chris Bradley: Monday 8th June, The Dockers Club, 17-17a Academy St, Leith. Chris is on at 10pm with support from Kat Healy at 9pm. Chris isn’t signed to 17 Seconds Records as a solo artist, but he is part of Aberfeldy, and his solo album Voices last year got a glowing review from this blog. To whit: ‘To describe him as a talented singer, songwriter and guitarist is rather like saying that Tiger Woods is quite good at golf, or that the Williams’ sisters are rather good on the tennis court: an understatement that doesn’t begin to get to grips with the facts. Quite simply, on the evidence of these songs he is one of the best.’

Yup, an occasional update about the record label that’s the sister to this blog (or something).
The second week in May will be an excellent opportunity for people to see 17 Seconds Records acts in Scotland.
On May 8, Aberfeldy and X-Lion Tamer (see below) play at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh as part of Tigerfest.
May 9 sees Aberfeldy play as part of Beepfest in Glasgow at the School of Art, while on May 10 The Gillyflowers play at Cabaret Voltaire as part of Tigerfest on a bill that also includes The Stantons and Le Reno Amps.
And yes, I did say X-Lion tamer. the enigmatic Tony T has decided that in order to avoid confusion with an American act of the same name, he will now record as X-Lion Tamer.
